Dr Yinghui Wei of Plymouth University was invited to give a lecture

On the morning of November 6, Dr. Ying Wei Wei, Ph.D. supervisor at the Department of Statistics, School of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Plymouth, UK, invited by the Research Institute, Graduate School and the School of Statistics and Applied Mathematics, at Bowen Building 304. The classroom is a lecture on Plymouth University Study Abroad Guidance and an academic report on Survival analysis: from individual level data to aggregated data. The report was hosted by Professor Zhang Huanming, Dean of the School of Statistics and Applied Mathematics. Some undergraduate students, all master tutors and young teachers attended the report.


Dr Yinghui Wei combined the experience of Chinese university exchange students at Plymouth University in detail, detaily explained the requirements of Plymouth University, study life, professional employment prospects, etc., and greatly helped students who were interested in studying at Plymouth University. Later in the academic report, Dr Yinghui Wei explained the review data in the survival analysis and the frontier research of individual level data analysis, and conducted extensive and in-depth academic exchanges with young teachers.


In recent years, Sino-foreign cooperation in the School of Statistics and Applied Mathematics has achieved remarkable results. In 2015, our school signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Northern Illinois and was approved by the Ministry of Education. It established a statistical (2+2) Sino-foreign cooperative education program and more than one-third of the students go to the United States each year. In June 2018, our school signed a cooperation agreement with the School of Mathematical Sciences of the University of Plymouth in the United Kingdom to jointly develop a “3+1” dual undergraduate degree. The University of Plymouth in the United Kingdom ranked No. 426 in the US News Global Universities in 2018. As an internationally renowned university, the School of Mathematics and Statistics has a strong faculty and excellent professionally training quality. The agreement provides another stable channel for the academic exchanges and further study of our teachers and students, marking a new level of cooperation between Chinese and foreign universities in our school. It is expected to attract more outstanding students to study in the United Kingdom and the United States,greatly improve the quality of students' professional training and the domestic and international reputation of our school's statistical profession.
