On April 28th, Professor Zhou Bo, a doctoral supervisor at South China Normal University, was invited by the Office of Scientific Research and the college to give an academic report entitled Distribution of Laplacian Eigenvalues of Graphs at the conference room of the Institute of Statistics and applied mathematics in Mingli Building, West Campus. The report was chaired by Dean Xia Wanjun.

Some teachers and graduate students of our college attended the report. Professor Zhou Bo summarized the research results and related conjectures on the distribution of Laplacian eigenvalues of graphs, and proved one of the important conjectures that for a connected graph of order n and diameter d not exceeding n-2, the number of Laplacian eigenvalues that fall within the interval [n-d+2, n] is at most n-d. Then, he shared the main proof ideas and characterized a class of graphs that make the equality in the conjecture hold.

At the end of the report, Professor Zhou Bo had an in-depth discussion with the attending teachers and students on the distribution of Laplacian eigenvalues of graphs and answered questions and helped them deepen their understanding of the latest research results in this field.
