In order to improve the quality of postgraduate training, the school organized 5 teacher-student study and exchange groups according to the discipline direction of statistics (quantitative economics) in November 2018, and required the tutors of graduate Students and the Students under their guidance to hold a TSS seminar (Teachers & Students Studies seminar) once a week. On the afternoon of March 4, 2019, TSS I seminar (income distribution group) held the first seminar of the new semester in the subject special zone of west university, with the theme of interpretation and simulation of classic literature. Participants included Zhang Huanming, Lu Erpo, Li Chao, Wang Yanmin and Li Fangzhi, members of the tutor group, as well as eight postgraduate students of the 18th grade.

 Three students, namely Qiu Wenxing, Lin Baomei and Qiu Rui, reported their recent literatures in this seminar. Qiu Wenxing's report is The State of Applied Econometrics: sophisticated and Policy Evaluation by Susan Athey and Guido w. Imbens. This paper summarizes the traditional policy evaluation methods and points out the enlightenment provided by machine learning for the causal inference of economics. Qiu Wenxing is able to explain relevant terms and theories more freely and explain this paper with cases, which makes the relatively obscure academic paper vivid and interesting.What Lin Baomei reported was "Interest Rate pass-through" by Marco Di Maggio and others. Mortgage Rates, Household Consumption, and Voluntary Deleveraging. This article showed that the decrease in Mortgage payments (50%) would lead to a significant increase in Household automobile Consumption (35%). Voluntary Deleveraging could weaken this effect, which meant that the rigidity of Household balance sheets and Mortgage contracts was very important to the transmission of monetary policy. Qiu Rui's report is Arash Nekoei and Andrea Weber's Does extend Unemployment Benefits Improve Job Quality? , this paper used Austrian administrative data to study the positive effect of the extension of unemployment benefits on unemployed workers' job search. The participating teachers made a brief comment on the students' report, and discussed the theoretical derivation, software implementation and practical application of the measurement method.It is proposed that theories and methods in literature should be combined with practical problems in China's social and economic practice to further improve the scientific research level of teachers and students and promote students' ability to publish papers in major journals. The basic requirement is that each graduate student should publish at least one paper in CSSCI journals before graduation.
